Cyberpunk & mecha

In science fiction, mecha or mechs are giant robots or machines, either depicted as piloted or sentient and typically humanoid walking vehicles, distinguished from vehicles by their biomorphic appearance and often much larger than human beings. Their appeal comes from the combination of potent weaponry with a more stylish combat technique than a mere vehicle, and the concept spans subgenres ranging from Super Robot to Real Robot in Japanese anime and manga. Different works put mecha to wildly different uses, from primary means of combat to civilian purposes such as heavy construction work, police functions, or firefighting. Source
