Homebrew

Homebrew, in the context of video games, is unofficial software produced by hobbyists for proprietary video game consoles that are not intended to be user-programmable. Because official documentation is often only available to licensed developers, and systems may use distribution formats like ROM cartridges or encrypted CD-ROMs, hobbyists have built community-maintained toolchains and groups focused on circumventing hardware and software restrictions.
