Star Trek

Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry and owned by Paramount, which began with a 1966 television series and grew into a worldwide pop culture phenomenon spanning films, television, games, novels, and comics. Its stories follow humans and aliens serving in Starfleet, the humanitarian and peacekeeping armada of the United Federation of Planets, whose altruistic protagonists must apply their ideals to difficult dilemmas. The franchise is noted for its cultural influence beyond science fiction and for progressive stances on civil rights, including one of the first multiracial casts on American television. Source
